From April 2026, Vienna will be even closer to China. China Eastern Airlines will commence scheduled service between Vienna and Xi'an on April 20th. This will make the historic imperial city in western China directly accessible from Vienna Airport for the first time.

Xi'an is best known for its world-famous Terracotta Army and is one of the country's most important tourist destinations. The city combines history and culture with a dynamic economic environment and is increasingly developing into an international center for education, technology, and business.

The flights will be offered three times a week with an Airbus A330-200 and will be available year-round. This expands Vienna Airport's long-haul network and strengthens the city's international connections. The new service offers attractive travel options for both business and leisure travelers and simultaneously provides a significant boost to the economy and tourism in Austria.

Flights depart from Vienna on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 1:30 PM and arrive in Xi'an the following morning at 5:50 AM. The return flight from Xi'an departs at 1:30 AM, arriving in Vienna at 6:10 AM.
