Australia, which is particularly affected by climate change, has recorded a heat record of 41.5 degrees. This value was measured in the state of Western Australia at Yampi Sound. This temperature is particularly noteworthy because it is currently winter in this region.
With the warm front currently moving across the country, temperature records are expected in Alice Springs with almost 37 degrees and in Sydney with up to 30 degrees. The average winter temperature in Sydney is normally between 16 and 17 degrees!
Australia has been feeling the effects of climate change particularly strongly for several years - not only through the increasingly frequent heat waves, but also through the bush fires, which have increased significantly in recent years, and the rapidly progressing coral bleaching in the Great Barrier Reef.
