As the aviation online magazine aerotelegraph reports after an interview with Jens Ritter ( CEO of Lufthansa Airlines) , free hot drinks are currently being tested on short and medium-haul flights .
Ritter hopes to increase customer satisfaction again. Test runs are currently being carried out in which tea and coffee will be served free of charge to all passengers. However, it is not yet clear whether the hot drinks will generally be available free of charge on all flights.
The trend is continuing after British Airways reintroduced free hot drinks in 2023 after they were abolished in 2017 for a fee. However, food will continue to be subject to a charge at Lufthansa, Jens Ritter emphasises: "Our offer has been extremely well received by our passengers, is very popular and will continue to be part of our portfolio."
