Edinburgh introduces tourist tax
As of 24 July 2026, Edinburgh has become the first city in Scotland to introduce a tourist tax. Visitors staying in hotels, bed and breakfasts and holiday rentals now pay an additional five percent on their accommodation costs. The tax applies to a maximum of five nights per stay.
